“To breed good bulls you must have GREAT females''

A phrase we often refer to here at LM Angus. As third Generation farmers, with a background in the Holstein industry, we understand the significance of females and their continuing genetic influence in a herd. They are the foundation to our breeding program and as we continue to increase our herd numbers we are strongly focused on our family lines, their genetic performance, high fertility , milking ability and structural soundness.

Little-Meadows-Edwina-D4

The Edwinas

Little Meadows Angus was founded in 1994 with the purchase of the great matron Koojan Hills Edwina D19 who has been the cornerstone upon which the stud had developed their Angus cattle. The Koojan Hills Edwina family would be one of the strongest female family lines here in Western Australia producing many state top price bulls at the annual Koojan Hills sale. Edwina D19 has been flushed successfully many times and the resulting daughters and granddaughters have also been flushed heavily to continue breeding the practical and functional Angus which the stud is known for. The best-known flush from Edwina D19 was with GDAR Oscar 711 which provided seven females. Four of these females, LM P1, LM P2, LM P3, LM P11 and three of their daughters, LM R6, LM R1 and LM R2 performed as top donor cows in the earlier years and over time have been successfully flushed with Fullback 9FB3, Schurrtop Supreme, Circle A 2000 Plus, Te Mania Magician M234, CA Future Direction 5321, TC Stockman 365 and TC Stockman 2164.

Little Meadows Merriment D80

The Merriments

In 1999 Little Meadows privately purchased a top donor female, Coonamble Lady G41 who was sired by Argwen Jumbo from Coonamble Angus stud, WA. The family flushed her successfully to Kruggerand of Donamere 490 and TC Stockman 365 which formed the powerful Merriment family.

Little Meadows Acacia Z2

The Acacias

In 2003 we purchased four embryos from Jeff Tully of Wooralla Park Angus, Victoria. They were out of his top cow Wooralla Park Maxine P11 by Hingaia 469. Fortunately we got two females, LM Z1 and Z2 which enabled a very good start to the Acacia family.

Little Meadows Lowan J77

The Lowans

In 2004 we purchase six embryos from Vermont Angus, Victoria which were all from the famous Te Mania Lowan M118 matron. Three embryos by TC Stockman 2164 resulted in two females, LM A3 and LM A10 and three embryos by BCC Bushwacker 41-93 resulted in one female, LM A1. These three females have been a successful start to our Lowan family.

THE BARUNAHS

In December 2020 we were fortunate to secure this elite female for $28,000 in a syndicate with Crawford Angus and Merridale Angus at the Murdeduke Angus Matrons Sale, Victoria. K304 is Quarterback’s grand dam, and we look forward to her preforming as well in our herds as she has for Murdeduke operation.
